Bycicles

Duration: January 2014 - June 2016

Brief project description:

Cyclotourism is a form of slow travel, sustainable in terms of environmental, economic and socio-cultural aspect of tourism development. It has a minimal ecological impact, provides considerable economic potential for the local communities, and encourages interest in cultural and natural heritage and community life.

Eubike was initiated in January 2014, and the project activities will continue until June 2016. The project partners will cooperate with cyclists, cyclotourism associations and tourism providers, in order to build a network devoted to cyclotourism development, and specifically to create and test online training and networking tools, focused on recognizing the “informal” competences of cyclists in co-development of touristic products, in collaboration with private and public tourism providers.

  • Tourism providers should be more equipped to create products appealing to a growing community, which would increase their success in the market.
  • The informal competences of cyclists and cycling associations should be recognised and used with potential to become employment qualifications.
  • New high quality cyclotourism products will be co-produces through knowledge integration of tourism providers and cycling associations.

Electronic learning materials will be developed and openly accessible:

  • eDucational Box will enable recognition and valorisation of informal competences of icyclists, and serve to enhance competences of tourism providers.
  • eMarketing Platform will enable cyclists’ participation in reviewing of the tourism products and support co-creation and co-management of tourism products by tourism providers and cyclist associations.
